Mahindra Thar Roxx: production capacity to go up gradually
Back in late June, Autocar India exclusively reported on the start of production of the Thar Roxx. Even back then, Mahindra was anticipating high demand for the SUV, as conveyed by dealers. The production was ramped up to almost 5,000 to 6,000 units a month from the initially planned run of around 2,500 units.
The combined annual production for the Thar 3-door and the 5-door Roxx is now close to 70,000 units.
In response to our query, Mahindra officially replied, “The total capacity of Thar as a brand is 9,500 per month; [there is] some fungibility between the two models [3-door and Roxx]. We are exploring options for further increasing capacity. Meanwhile, we are grateful to our customers for the enthusiastic response and remain committed to prioritising a seamless delivery experience.”
While Thar Roxx demand is going through the roof, the Thar 3-door, on the other hand, is seeing a slight slowdown, with discounts of up to Rs 1.6 lakh being offered on some variants.
Prices for the Thar Roxx start from Rs 12.99 lakh for the entry-level variant and go up to Rs 20.49 lakh for the top-spec 2WD. Thar Roxx 4WD prices start from Rs 18.79 lakh and go up to Rs 22.49 lakh.
