Mahindra announced in its results presentation for the April to June quarter that its pending orders have fallen by nearly one-fifth to 1.78 lakh units from 2.22 lakh units at the end of the preceding three months. The backlog for its popular models, including the Thar, Scorpio and Scorpio N, has dropped by about 30 percent. The decline is smaller for the XUV700, Bolero and Bolero Neo.

    1. Mahindra Thar order backlog down from 59,000 to 42,000 units
    2. Scorpio, Scorpio N pending orders reduce from 86,000 to 58,000 units
    3. XUV700, Bolero line-up backlog down by 3,000 units, 2,000 units, respectively

The company has decreased the Thar’s order backlog to 42,000 units from 59,000. It will increase the rugged SUV’s production by about 4,000 units a month to meet the demand – in June, there were about 5,000 new bookings for the model – and make space for the upcoming Thar Roxx, the 5-door version scheduled to launch on August 15. The brand also confirmed that the average waiting period for the 2WD Thar is two to two-and-a-half months.

Mahindra Scorpio, Scorpio N pending orders, bookings

The order backlog for the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N SUVs has also reduced by about a third to 58,000 units from 86,000. Mahindra said it received about 12,000 new bookings for these two models in June, down from approximately 17,000 monthly orders in the January to March quarter.

Mahindra XUV 3XO pending orders, bookings

Mahindra’s latest offering, the XUV 3XO compact SUV, is the only model to see an increase in pending orders. Launched on April 29, the XUV 3XO had 50,000 open bookings at the end of March, and that number is now at 55,000 units. The company claimed it got about 20,000 new bookings for the XUV 3XO last month and has increased production of the XUV 3XO and the XUV400 EV. Mahindra also said that by the end of FY2025 (March 2025), it will have a total production capacity of 64,000 units for these models, including an additional 10,000 units allocated for the EVs.

    Mahindra XUV700 pending orders, bookings

The company has also increased production of its flagship SUV, the XUV700, from 3,500 units per month three years ago to 10,000 units, which has helped reduce pending orders from 16,000 units to 13,000. The number of monthly bookings for the XUV700 continues to be around 8,000 units, as seen during the January-March quarter.

Mahindra Bolero, Neo pending orders, bookings

The combined open bookings for the Bolero and Bolero Neo SUVs have come down by 2,000 units to about 8,000 units. The Indian SUV specialist claims to have received about 6,000 bookings in June for these two sub-four-metre seven-seat SUVs. That’s a considerable reduction compared to the 9,500 bookings the models averaged during January to March.
