    Tata Nexon EV: what's new

The larger 45kWh battery pack allows for an ARAI-claimed range of 489km, which is 24km more than what the 40.5kWh battery is rated for. Tata claims the real-world C75 cycle range is around 350-370km. Power and torque output with the larger battery remain unchanged at 145hp and 215Nm.

Tata Motors says the new battery pack is 15 percent more energy dense, so it takes the same amount of space as the 40.5kWh unit. The charging time for the 45kWh battery, especially from 10-80 percent is 48 minutes, instead of the 56 minutes it takes the 40.5kWh unit. While there is a slight increase in weight, the company is confident that the 5-star BNCAP crash test certificate that was valid for the 40.5kWh variant will be extended to the 45kWh version, too.

Apart from the bigger battery, the Nexon EV also gets more features in the higher trims that include a panoramic sunroof and a 'Frunk' for additional storage. The Nexon EV is only the second compact SUV to get a panoramic sunroof, the other being the Mahindra XUV 3XO.

The 30kWh and 40.5kWh variants will also continue to be on sale alongside the new 45kWh variants.

Nexon EV Red Dark edition launched

The Nexon EV Red Dark edition is only offered in a single Empowered+ 45 trim, which is priced at Rs 17.19 lakh – Rs 20,000 more than the trim it's based on. The Nexon EV Red Dark gets gloss black paint with subtle red accents and 16-inch wheels finished in gloss black. The interior gets more significant updates – red upholstery for the seats, an all-black theme for the dashboard with contrast red stitching and an exclusive Red Dark-themed UI for the infotainment system. The seats also get '#Dark' embroidered on the headrests.
