It has been well-known for quite some time that Ather is working on a family e-scooter to supplement its 450 line-up, and the company has now revealed the name of this upcoming machine. Called the Rizta, this new product has also been teased for the first time, giving us a look at its overall silhouette.

We see a fairly flat-faced design that more closely resembles something like the family-oriented TVS iQube than Ather’s own sporty 450 line-up. This is followed by a flat and seemingly fairly roomy floorboard, and the scooter appears to be equipped with what look like 12-inch wheels at both ends. Another element that immediately stands out is the exceptionally long seat, suggesting that there is a big focus on space and comfort with the Rizta.

Indeed, the company says that it will be taking a big leap forward in comfort and safety with the Rizta. The silhouette image in the teaser almost exactly matches the spy shots of the scooter that emerged a few months ago. Those images confirmed that the Rizta will not use a hub motor and stick with a mid-mounted motor like the rest of Ather’s lineup. Other design elements that have been uncovered so far include a horizontal bar-type headlight and tail-lamp, a chunky rear grab rail, and simpler, less stylised mirrors than the 450 lineup.

Ather says it will officially unveil the Rizta at its Community Day 2024 event, which is expected to take place in the coming months. The company has also trademarked the Rishta name, and says that the scooter will be ready to deliver in 6 months, so an official launch should not be too far away. Once it arrives, expect Ather to position it against the TVS iQube (Rs 1.34 lakh-1.40 lakh) and the Bajaj Chetak Premium (Rs 1.35 lakh).
