The Citroen C3 Aircross automatic will go on sale next week. Bookings are currently open with the amount set at Rs 25,000. Dealer sources tell us that deliveries are slated to commence sometime in the second half of next month.
We are told that prices for the C3 Aircross automatic will be around Rs 1 lakh more than the equivalent manual-gearbox equipped variant. Some dealers also tell us that the entry-level price for the C3 Aircross automatic will be lower than its rivals.
- C3 Aircross automatic to get torque convertor gearbox
- Expected to be sold in top two variants
- C3 Aircross automatic to broaden customer appeal
The C3 Aircross currently has limited appeal due to the lack of an automatic gearbox, which has become a necessary choice for most buyers these days. The addition of an automatic gearbox would help Citroen market the C3 Aircross to customers looking for an SUV with an auto transmission.
The C3 Aircross automatic for India will essentially be the same model that is on sale in Indonesia – the 6-speed unit is sourced from Japanese transmission maker Aisin. It will continue with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that sees duty on the manual variant. Sources tell us that the top two variants are expected to get the automatic gearbox option. It remains to be seen if there is any change in power or torque output on the automatic C3 Aircross that comes to India.
The C3 Aircross takes on a long list of midsize SUVs in our market, including the refreshed Creta, Seltos, Taigun, Kushaq, Hyryder and the Grand Vitara.
