The Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 19.64 lakh, and going up to Rs 24.14 lakh. As its name implies, the Ebony version is Mahindra’s new take on an all-black SUV, and, going against the grain, it's purposely not all black, says the brand. Mahindra also says that they've come up with the XUV700 Ebony based on consumer feedback.

    1. Mahindra XUV700 Ebony priced Rs 15,000 more than equivalent variant
    2. Contrasting elements outside and inside ensure XUV700 Ebony is mostly black
    3. All XUV700 variant now get rear seat belt reminders as standard

It gets the same powertrain options as the variants they are based on – 200hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 185hp, 2.2-litre diesel with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

However, the XUV700 Ebony is available only in front-wheel-drive form and in 7-seat configuration.

With the addition of this new version, the XUV700 is now available in a total of eight monotone and five dual-tone exterior finishes.

On the inside, Mahindra has given the XUV700 Ebony black leatherette upholstery (with white stitching on the seats) and a dark dash and door finish, but it has added other contrasting elements to ensure that this isn’t an all-black interior. The most noticeable contrasting element is the light grey roof liner, though the other contrasting bits include silver plastic bits on the steering and dashboard, along with dark chrome highlights on the steering-mounted controls and the gear console.
