Mahindra’s next launch for India will be the XUV300 facelift that will go on sale in the coming weeks. The heavily updated XUV300 will be Mahindra’s second shot at the very competitive compact SUV market, which also has contenders like the Nexon, Sonet, Venue and the Brezza.  We tell you what all will be new on the refreshed XUV300 SUV along with details on its powertrain options.

    1. Updated XUV300 to get major styling overhaul
    2. Interior bits will be shared with the new XUV400 EV
    3. Will get as many as three powertrain options

XUV300 facelift: What all will be new

The XUV300, as seen from the spy shots, will get a major styling update in order to keep up with newly updated rivals like the Nexon, Venue and the Sonet. The refreshed XUV300’s styling cues are inspired heavily by Mahindra’s BE line-up of SUVs that will go on sale in 2025. These tweaks include a more angular nose along with a completely redesigned drop-down LED daytime running lamp. It will also get a revised bumper and headlamp assembly, and will have a new two-part grille with a larger central air intake.

The rear sees major styling updates too, that include a completely redesigned tailgate with a full-width LED light bar. The tail-lamps appear sleeker and C-shaped, and the registration plate is now housed on the bumper instead of on the tailgate. However, we do not expect any major changes in its profile, save for new alloy wheel designs, which depend on the variant.

XUV300 facelift to get features from XUV400 EV

The recently updated XUV400 EV's cabin will share quite a few details with the XUV300 facelift, even in terms of the features list. The new-look dashboard with twin 10.25-inch screens, a 360-degree camera, cooled seats, rear AC vents and other feature add-ons, all of which were seen on the 2024 XUV400, can be expected on the XUV300 facelift.

The current crop of engines – a 1.5-litre diesel, 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol (TGDI) – that received emissions-related upgrades for BS6 Stage II norms will continue as is. The XUV300 facelift will come with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter) with the most powerful 131hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (TGDI) engine. It is the same unit that does duty in the Skoda KushaqVolkswagen TaigunSkoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus with their 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines. The other two engines will continue using the 6-speed manual and automated manual transmission options.

XUV300 EV launch by June this year

The XUV300 facelift will also get an EV powertrain option that will sit below the XUV400 EV. Just like the standard facelifted model that will rival the Nexon, the electric version of the XUV300 will be aimed as a more competitive alternative to the new Nexon EV, and will go on sale by June 2024.
