The Porsche 911 is a legend, because, for over six decades, every successive iteration of the rear-engined sportscar has upped the ante in performance and handling. The eighth generation Porsche 911 is available in a number of forms, including the Carrera and Carrera S coupe and cabriolets, the rocketship 650hp Turbo S, the ultra focused GT3 and GT3 RS models and even the super-rare S/T. Unfortunately the 911 Dakar is not on sale in India. Even so, though it's now on the expensive side, there is truly a 911 for every type of buyer.

The Porsche 911 is iconic in shape and is identifiable as one from a mile away. As ever, the latest 992 series car is evolutionary in its design though the standard wide body look and light strip at the rear do give it some distinction among 911s. You sit low in a 911 but the view out is exceptional, all the controls are perfectly positioned, and everything is well thought out and feels built to last. Do be prepared to spend a big sum if you want to customise your 911 or add more equipment. Front seat comfort is good though the 911’s rear seats are just about usable for kids. GT3 and S/T models do not offer rear seats as standard.
Have a go in the the entry level 911 Carrera and you'll be shocked by how enormously talented the car is. Its turbo-charged flat six engine revs hard and fast, offers a thick slug of power and even sounds special. Handling too is sublime and there’s a full suite of electronics to ensure the 911 doesn’t feel as tail-heavy as it is. Add in a comfy enough ride and what you get is a fine everyday sportscar. And that's just the base model.
Move up to the more specialised GT3 and Turbo models and you are in for a treat. The GT3 RS has become a legend when it comes to track driving, with its immense aero package making up for its relatively meagre power output. The Turbo S remains an acceleration champion, ducking comfortably under 2.7sec in the 0-100kph sprint. However, our pick of the range - if you can find an allocation - is the GT3, which combines fine handling with some usability, relative affordability, a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the 9000rpm 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine.
The Porsche 911 offers a variety of color options. Porsche 911 is available in a range of 8 colors. The colors offered in Porsche 911 are GT Silver, Night Blue, Agate Grey, Jet Black, Carrera White, Racing Yellow, Guards Red and White.
